Baseball Recap: Hedgesville's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Hedgesville waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They put the hurt on the Berkeley Springs Indians with a sharp 11-1 victory. That's more bragging rights for the Eagles, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Mason Elliott tossed a big game, striking out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.

On the hitting side, Landon Pence was a standout: he scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. Noah Brown was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Hedgesville hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most two strikeouts in three consecutive games.

Hedgesville's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Berkeley Springs, they are on a 19-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Looking ahead, Hedgesville will head out on the road to challenge Martinsburg at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Hedgesville 2.5, Martinsburg 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
