Volleyball Recap: Willows Academy Takes a Loss

Willows Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Beacon Academy Trailblazers. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Trailblazers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Willows Academy might've come up short, but they didn't make it easy on Beacon Academy: every set was decided by exactly three points. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-22.

Claire Stepansky paced Willows Academy's offense, picking up 11 kills. Stepansky got some help from Clare Gannon and her 26 assists. Finally, Francesca White kept Willows Academy's defense grounded, leading the team with four blocks.

Willows Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 5-21. As for Beacon Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season.

Willows Academy and Beacon Academy are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Eagles will square off against Marian Central Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Beacon Academy, they will host Woodlands Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
