Chaney had lost three straight headed into Friday's contest, but Asuante Mickel didn't let it get to four. The Cowboys blew past the McKinley Red Dragons, posting a 54-0 victory with plenty of help from Mickel, who rushed for 113 yards and one touchdown on only six carries, and also threw for 48 yards and a pair of TDs. His passing game has become a key predictor of Chaney's success: the team is 2-1 when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 0-3 otherwise.

One reason for the win was Chaney's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Marcus Cobb refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself.

Chaney picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 2-4. As for McKinley, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Chaney and McKinley could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. The Cowboys will challenge Cardinal Mooney at 7:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank disadvantage (308 vs. 50). Meanwhile, McKinley (ranked 608th) will meet Poland Seminary (ranked 49th) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
