Basketball Recap: Beto Galarza's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Hanna over Harlingen

If Hanna was riding high fresh off their 83-55 takedown of Valley View last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Hanna Golden Eagles came up short against the Harlingen Cardinals on Friday, falling 68-48. While losing is never fun, the Golden Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 479th, while the Cardinals are ranked 188th).

Hanna lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Beto Galarza, who posted 22 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rolando Roman, who put up 13 points.

Harlingen's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Luis Rodriguez, who earned 17 points. The game was Rodriguez's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Ashton Barajas was another key player, putting up 15 points.

Hanna's defeat dropped their record down to 20-9. As for Harlingen, they pushed their record up to 22-4 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Los Fresnos the next time they take the court. Harlingen will head out to face Los Fresnos at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Hanna will host them at 6:00 p.m. on January 17th.
