Softball Game Preview: Inter-City Baptist Chargers vs. Dearborn Pioneers

For the second straight game, Inter-City Baptist will face off against Dearborn. The Chargers will look to defend their home field on Saturday against the Pioneers at 12:00 p.m. Inter-City Baptist will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Inter-City Baptist came out on top against Dearborn on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive 13-run third inning. The Chargers put the hurt on the Pioneers with a sharp 17-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Chargers, who have now won four games by 11 runs or more so far this season.

Brooke Anthony made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Macy Harrison, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Ellie Millner, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one run.

Inter-City Baptist kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 13 hits in four consecutive contests.

Inter-City Baptist pushed their record up to 6-6 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Dearborn, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-18-2 record this season.
