Baseball Game Preview: New Way Learning Academy Bulldogs vs. Heritage Academy Heroes

The New Way Learning Academy Bulldogs will venture away from home to face off against the Heritage Academy Heroes at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. New Way Learning Academy comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

New Way Learning Academy lost 12-3 to Tri-City Christian Academy on Friday.

Cyrus Eaton made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in both of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. That run was his first of the season.

Meanwhile, Heritage Academy beat Ajo 7-4 on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Heroes.

Maverik Ray spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up eight Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Heritage Academy is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-4 otherwise.

On the hitting side, David Mota was incredible, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. He has become a key player for Heritage Academy: the team is 5-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 0-4 otherwise.

New Way Learning Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Heritage Academy, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. New Way Learning Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Heritage Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

New Way Learning Academy might still be hurting after the 19-0 loss they got from Heritage Academy in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
