Softball Game Preview: Graford Rabbits vs. Crawford Pirates

The Graford Rabbits will square off against the Crawford Pirates at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Graford came out on top against Strawn on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run seventh inning. The Rabbits won by a run and slipped past the Greyhounds 7-6. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Rabbits.

Trinity Leach spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up 16 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than 11 strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Faith Perry and Margaret Byrd did most of the damage at the plate: Perry went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Byrd went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Perry is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kathylene Newman, who went 1-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Crawford, who bounced back after a loss on the road on April 8th. Everything went their way against Hamilton two weeks ago as they made off with a 16-1 win. The victory continues a trend for the Pirates in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won eight in a row.

Crawford now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Graford, their win bumped their record up to 8-10.
