Mason Atkins Turns in Season-Best Effort

West Aurora was led to victory by Mason Atkins, who turned in his biggest game of the season on Friday. Atkins threw for 233 yards and five touchdowns while completing 90.9% of his passes, and also rushed for 66 yards and two touchdowns, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. He showed off some serious burst, turning on the afterburners on one carry for 50 yards.

The victory for West Aurora keeps them at an undefeated 7-0. It'll be Eastside v. Westside when their and Aurora East meet at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

West Aurora picked up their seventh consecutive win on Friday thanks in part to Azuriah Sylvester. Larkin had no answer to Sylvester as he made a tackle. Sylvester got the majority of those receiving yards when he pulled down a pass and took off for a gain of 50 yards.

Robert Capuzi Crosses Big Stat Threshold

While Robert Capuzi delivered a dominant effort on Friday, a win just wasn't in the cards for Elgin. Capuzi was excellent, picking up a sack and making ten total tackles (2.0 for loss). Thanks to that strong showing, he's now averaging 5.2 total tackles per game.

Elgin's loss was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-5. Capuzi and Elgin will square off against South Elgin at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Temilade Dada and Co. Win Seventh in a Row

Temilade Dada's big game helped extend West Aurora's winning streak to seven on Friday. Nobody could stop Dada as he picked up 2.5 sacks and made four total tackles.

The second Elgin player making an appearance here is Andres Marquez, and for good reason. He made nine total tackles (2.0 for loss). Thanks to that strong showing, he's now averaging 5.3 total tackles per game.
