Baseball Recap: Hugo Has No Trouble Against Morris

Hugo got themselves on the board against Morris on Thursday, but Morris never followed suit. They blew past the Eagles 12-0. Considering the Buffaloes have won nine games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Hugo got a massive performance out of Dakota Coulter, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Coulter is becoming a predictor of the Buffaloes' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 9-2 (and 2-15 when he doesn't). Keldin Cochran was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

Hugo always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .591. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The victory made it two in a row for Hugo and bumps their season record up to 11-17. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Morris, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-20.

Hugo didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-2 victory against Henryetta on the 24th. As for Morris, they have also already played their next contest, a 6-1 loss against Meeker on the 25th.
