Basketball Recap: Providence Christian Starts Season with Defeat on the Road

Providence Christian kicked off their season on the road on Friday and hit a couple of potholes. They were outmatched by the New Jerusalem Christian Academy Eagles and fell 59-22. The Knights were down 43-16 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

New Jerusalem Christian Academy can attribute much of their success to Elijah Marcellus, who went 7-for-12 en route to 16 points. Jayden Reid was another key player, putting up nine points and four steals.

New Jerusalem Christian Academy has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Providence Christian will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Ruskin Christian at 6:15 p.m. on the 18th. As for New Jerusalem Christian Academy, they will venture away from home to challenge Community Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
