Basketball Recap: Coeur Du Christ Academy Falls Despite Big Games from Grant Clemens and Jerome Cools

After flying high against Mullan last Friday, Coeur du Christ Academy came back down to earth. The match between the Coeur du Christ Academy Saints and the Wallace Miners didn't end well, with the Coeur du Christ Academy Saints falling 71-54. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Miners this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 80-49 back in January.

Despite the loss, Coeur du Christ Academy had strong showings from Jerome Cools, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and ten rebounds, and Grant Clemens, who went 8-for-18 to rack up 20 points and four steals. With that strong performance, Clemens is now averaging an impressive 15.3 points per game. Another player making a difference was Jon Denke, who posted nine points.

Even though they lost, Coeur du Christ Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in ten consecutive contests.

Leading Wallace to victory were Julian Davis and Cooper Miller. Davis dropped a double-double with 23 points and 13 boards, while Miller almost dropped a double-double with 19 points and nine steals. The game was Davis' fifth in a row with at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Reece Williams, who scored six points.

Coeur du Christ Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Wallace, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-6.

Coeur du Christ Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 76-71 loss against Genesis Prep Academy on the 14th. As for Wallace, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 56-41 defeat against Kellogg on the 12th.
