Softball Recap: Goreville Blackcats vs. Egyptian Pharaohs
With a playoff game on the line, Goreville rose to the challenge on Wednesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Egyptian Pharaohs a 17-0 shutout. The win was some much needed relief for Goreville as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.
Breanna (Brea) Suits made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and only one hit over four innings pitched. Suits was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while going 3-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Abigail (Abby) Compton, who went 3-for-3 with a home run, six RBI, and three runs. Another player making a difference was Emma Rogers, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Goreville's victory bumped their record up to 14-17. As for Egyptian, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.
