Basketball Recap: Blacksburg Takes a Loss

Blacksburg lost against Woodruff back in November of 2022 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Blacksburg Wildcats were beaten by the Woodruff Wolverines 77-35. The game marked the Wildcats' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Saad Lavender, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Christian Federico, who posted seven points.

Even though they lost, Blacksburg smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in three consecutive contests.

Blacksburg's loss dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Woodruff, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 9-3.

Blacksburg didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, an 82-46 defeat against Powdersville on the 3rd. As for Woodruff, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 63-45 loss against Riverside on the 3rd.
