Volleyball Recap: Basalt Falls Despite Big Games from Ellysia Guillonta and Sidney Barill

Basalt lost against Steamboat Springs back in September of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Longhorns lost 3-0 to the Sailors. The Longhorns have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 25-12, 25-14.

Basalt's loss came despite strong showings from Sidney Barill and Ellysia Guillonta. Barill had 13 digs, while Guillonta had five kills and four digs. Guillonta has been hot recently, having posted five or more kills the last four times she's played. Lilly Archibeque also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

Among those leading the charge was Macee Wettlaufer, who had 13 digs and three aces. Those three aces gave her a new career-high.

Basalt now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Steamboat Springs, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.

Basalt didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 loss against Aspen on the 23rd. As for Steamboat Springs, they have also already played their next game, a 3-1 defeat against Battle Mountain on the 23rd.
