Softball Recap: Kern Valley Gets the Win

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Kern Valley walked away with it. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Desert Scorpions 4-3. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Kern Valley saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jade Montes, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

Kern Valley has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Desert, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 14-10.

Looking ahead, Kern Valley will face off against Torres at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Toros will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last. Desert does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
