Softball Game Preview: East Hickman County Eagles vs. Columbia Central Lions

East Hickman County is 0-4 against Columbia Central since March of 2018 but things could change on Monday. East Hickman County will venture away from home to take on Columbia Central at 5:00 p.m. East Hickman County will be strutting in after a win while Columbia Central will be coming in after a loss.

Last Tuesday, East Hickman County needed a bit of extra time to put away Hickman County. They put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 12-6 victory. The Eagles' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Candence Cochran made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed six innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-5. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Adelynn Oakley was incredible, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. She also put up two RBI, which were her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Kylee Litton, who scored two runs while going 2-for-5.

East Hickman County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Columbia Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 7-0 to Wicksburg.

The win snapped East Hickman County's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-4 record. As for Columbia Central, their loss dropped their record down to 7-3.

East Hickman County suffered a grim 24-1 defeat to Columbia Central when the teams last played two weeks ago. Can East Hickman County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
