Football Recap: Edmond Memorial Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Edmond Memorial won against Deer Creek last Friday with 35 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. The Bulldogs strolled past the Edmond North Huskies with points to spare, taking the game 35-18. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma football rankings (they are ranked sixth, while the Huskies are ranked 44th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Edmond Memorial's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dawson Beaulieu, who threw for 264 yards and four TDs. The Bulldogs' leading receiver Cameron Quarrels was Beaulieu's top target yet again, picking up 169 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Edmond Memorial's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. Logan Lesch refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself. Edmond Memorial got some further help from Beau Bayouth: he made four total tackles and defended one pass in addition to snagging three interceptions.

Despite the loss, Edmond North still got an impressive performance from Izaiah Roberson, who rushed for 110 yards and one touchdown on only 12 carries.

The victory was the third in a row for Edmond Memorial, bringing their record up to 3-0. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 8.3 points on average this season. As for Edmond North, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Edmond Memorial and Edmond North will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next matchups. The next time the Bulldogs see the field they'll take on Norman North at 7:00 p.m. on the 26th. As for Edmond North, their break will end when they face Norman at 7:00 p.m. on the 26th.
