Basketball Preview: Ballou Knights vs. Coolidge Colts
Ballou and the Colts are an even 3-3 against one another since December of 2016, but not for long. The Ballou Knights have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Coolidge Colts at 5:30 p.m. on February 5th.
Back in January, Ballou faced the Roughriders in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Ballou was beaten by the Roughriders 55-23.
Meanwhile, Coolidge waltzed into their game on Friday with three straight wins but they left with four. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 43-40 win over Jackson-Reed.
Coolidge found their leader in underclassman Josslyn Derricott, who dropped a triple-double on 20 points, 11 rebounds, and ten blocks. Derricott is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last eight games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaylyn Derricott, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds.
Ballou's loss dropped their record down to 0-10. As for Coolidge, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season.
