Basketball Recap: Northwood Academy Skates Past Pinewood Prep with Ease

There's no place like home for Northwood Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They blew past the Pinewood Prep Panthers 63-8 on Monday. The Chargers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matches by 26 points or more this season.

Northwood Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Alyvia Tocco out in front who went 8 for 10 en route to 17 points in addition to six boards and five steals. The dominant performance gave Tocco a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Maliyah Birch, who went 9 of 18 on her way to 21 points and four steals.

Northwood Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 34 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Northwood Academy is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season. As for Pinewood Prep, their loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-7.
