Selinsgrove is 9-1 against Shikellamy since September of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Seals will face off against the Braves at 7:00 p.m. Selinsgrove has given up an average of 36.3 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Selinsgrove is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Shamokin Area on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Seals had to suffer through a 57-12 loss at the hands of the Indians. While losing is never fun, the Seals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 352nd, while the Indians are ranked 80th).
Despite the defeat, Selinsgrove had strong showings from Jonathan Neidig, who picked up 90 receiving yards and one TD, and Jet Hollenbach, who rushed for 51 yards and one touchdown. Neidig didn't just play on offense: he also made four total tackles and defended one pass.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Shikellamy, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They came out on top against Central Mountain by a score of 14-7 on Friday. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.
Shikellamy's win came from a few key players Selinsgrove will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Brody Rebuck, who rushed for 98 yards, and also threw for 137 yards and one TD. 84 of those passing yards were hauled in by Thomas Pollock, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.
Shikellamy was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 229 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September of 2024.
Shikellamy's record is now 4-2. As for Selinsgrove, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-5.
Selinsgrove was able to grind out a solid victory over Shikellamy in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, winning 14-7. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Seals since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
