Preview: Buena Vista Bison vs. Burke Bulldogs
Buena Vista is 0-3 against Burke since December of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Buena Vista Bison's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Burke Bulldogs at 8:30 a.m. on December 30th. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Buena Vista struggled with assists on Friday (Millard West had 14 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Buena Vista was beaten by Millard West 79-33. Buena Vista was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 47-21.
Despite the defeat, Buena Vista had strong showings from Ben Harris, who scored 12 points, and Eli Smith, who scored four points along with five rebounds. Those 12 points set a new season-high mark for him.
Meanwhile, Burke's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 59-45 bruising from Gretna East. The match was a 19-19 toss-up at halftime, but Burke was outscored by Gretna East in the second.
Buena Vista's defeat dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Burke, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.
Buena Vista was taken down by Burke 80-37 when the teams last played on December 8th. Can Buena Vista avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
