Benjamin Russell beats Helena for their fifth straight win

The Benjamin Russell Wildcats entered their tilt with the Helena Huskies with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Benjamin Russell narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Helena 20-17. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Benjamin Russell also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2022.
Benjamin Russell's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Gabriel Benton led the charge by throwing for 233 yards and two touchdowns on only 19 passes. Cederian Morgan also helped out with an impressive 89 receiving yards.
Benjamin Russell's victory bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Helena, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Benjamin Russell will challenge Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Valley is on a three-game streak of home wins, Benjamin Russell a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the field. As for Helena, they will head out on the road to face off against Vestavia Hills at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
