Recap: Richmond Red Devils vs. Madison Cubs
The Richmond Red Devils put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They secured a 54-49 W over Madison. Given Richmond's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 16th, while Madison is ranked 288th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Richmond to victory, but perhaps none more so than Braiden Hogg, who scored 21 points. That's the first time this season that Hogg scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cedric Horton, who scored 16 points.
Richmond's victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-0. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.4 points per game. As for Madison, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-9.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Richmond will take on New Palestine at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. New Palestine knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight contests -- so hopefully Richmond likes a good challenge. As for Madison, they will play host again and welcome Rushville, where tip off is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
