Softball Recap: Trinity Catholic Victorious

The Trinity Catholic Celtics earned a 9-4 win over the Wapakoneta Redskins on Wednesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Celtics.

Caylee Barbe made a splash while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Emma Simms was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while going 4-for-5. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Casey Houghtaling was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-5.

Trinity Catholic's record is now 17-7. As for Wapakoneta, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Looking ahead, Trinity Catholic will be playing in front of their home fans against Vanguard at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Knights' pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so the Celtics' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Wapakoneta, they will head out on the road to square off against Merritt Island Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Redskins' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cougars have averaged an impressive 7.9 runs per game this season.
