Softball Game Preview: Ponte Vedra Sharks vs. Middleburg Broncos

The Ponte Vedra Sharks will take on the Middleburg Broncos at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Ponte Vedra is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.

On Tuesday, Ponte Vedra didn't have quite enough to beat Mandarin and fell 6-5.

Emma Shin was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

The home team had come away the winner the last five times Middleburg and Baker County had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Broncos lost 7-1 to the Wildcats on Friday. The defeat continues a trend for the Broncos in their meetings with the Wildcats: they've now lost three in a row.

Middleburg saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mallory Ficklin, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Ponte Vedra's loss ended a nine-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-7. As for Middleburg, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 13-7.
