Recap: Tucker Tigers vs. Arabia Mountain Rams
It was a good run, but the Tucker Tigers unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They and Arabia Mountain were almost perfectly matched up, but Tucker suffered an agonizing 24-23 defeat. Despite 149 more yards than Arabia Mountain, Tucker couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.
Tucker's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Jordan Mccoy, who rushed for 192 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.1 yards per carry. Mccoy was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 51 yards. Another player making a difference was Christian Whitmore, who picked up 93 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
The team's defense also tried their best in the loss by holding Arabia Mountain to a paltry 201 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Tucker's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid the passer out three times before it was all said and done. Seth Harden was especially locked on to Arabia Mountain's QB and sacked him twice.
Tucker's loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Arabia Mountain, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Tucker will take on Statesboro at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Arabia Mountain, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Jenkins at 7:30 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Georgia (Jenkins is ranked 147th, while Arabia Mountain is ranked 163rd).
