The Biglerville Canners will face off against the Fairfield Knights at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Fairfield will square off against a team with plenty of momentum: Biglerville extended their winning streak to five on Wednesday. The Canners were the clear victors by a 21-4 margin over Hanover.
Biglerville got a massive performance out of Jocelyn Miller, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That home run was Miller's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Peterson, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.
Biglerville hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in nine consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Fairfield made easy work of York County Tech on Wednesday and carried off a 15-4 victory.
The team relied heavily on Addison Welch, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Aubree Eichenlaub, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
Biglerville's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-4. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Fairfield, their win bumped their record up to 8-9.
Thursday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Biglerville hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .405. However, it's not like Fairfield struggles in that department as they've averaged .373. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
