Basketball Recap: Desert Edge Takes a Loss

Desert Edge lost against Canyon View back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Desert Edge Scorpions were dealt an 83-45 loss at the hands of the Canyon View Jaguars. While losing is never fun, the Scorpions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 201st, while the Jaguars are ranked 14th).

This is the second loss in a row for Desert Edge and nudges their season record down to 9-17. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.0 points over those games. As for Canyon View, the victory (which was their 23rd in a row) raised their record to 23-1.

Desert Edge does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Canyon View, they will face off against Tucson High Magnet School at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Canyon View knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 24 contests -- so hopefully Tucson High Magnet School likes a good challenge.
