Volleyball Recap: Leyden Comes Up Short

Leyden was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wheeling Wildcats. Surprisingly, this marked the Eagles' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-10, 25-19.

Leyden's offense was headlined by Ryan Richmond and Steven Kaczowka, who picked up three kills apiece. They got some help from Jon Espinoza and his ten assists.

Leyden's loss dropped their record down to 12-16. As for Wheeling, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-10 record this season.

Coincidentally, Leyden and Wheeling will both be playing DePaul College Prep the next time they take the court. The Eagles will head out to face the Rams at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the Wildcats will play them later in the day, at 2:00 p.m.
