Softball Game Preview: Thomas Jefferson Jaguars vs. Peters Township Indians

The Thomas Jefferson Jaguars will venture away from home to face off against the Peters Township Indians at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Peters Township took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Thomas Jefferson, who comes in off a win.

Thomas Jefferson is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Albert Gallatin an 11-0 shutout on Wednesday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Jaguars needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Not much got past Aubrey Shaffer, who gave up just a hit and racked up ten Ks to keep Albert Gallatin off the board. Those ten strikeouts set a new season-high mark for Shaffer.

At the plate, Thomas Jefferson let Morgan Alisesky and Ali Chalovich run wild. Alisesky went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Chalovich went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That home run marked the first that Alisesky launched this season. Addi Bracco was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Thomas Jefferson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Peters Township was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 8-0 to Trinity. The game marked the first time this year in which the Indians were not able to get on the board.

Thomas Jefferson's victory was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-3. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 8.5 runs this season. As for Peters Township, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.

Thomas Jefferson took their victory against Peters Township in their previous matchup back in April of 2023 by a conclusive 16-4 score. Do the Jaguars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Indians turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
