Talented junior quarterback totaled over 4,000 yards and 50 touchdowns for Mililani.
Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in high school football. America's source for high school sports continues the tradition to close out the 2023 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence in addition to local and state accolades.
Treston McMillian of
Mililani is the 2023 MaxPreps Hawaii High School Football Player of the Year. The 6-foot, 180-pound junior quarterback led the Trojans to an 11-2 record and runner-up finish in the state's largest classification.
For the season, McMillan threw for 3,521 yards and 42 touchdown passes against six interceptions while completing 68.1 percent of his passes. He added 104 carries for 575 yards and 11 more scores.

In a 28-21 win over Kahuku in the OIA Open Division championship game, McMillan threw for 272 yards and three touchdowns to go with 21 carries for 108 yards and another score. It was the first loss for the Red Raiders against an in-state opponent since 2019.
Mililani and Kahuku met again two weeks later in the HHSAA Open Division state championship with McMillan accounting for 339 yards of total offense and two touchdowns in a 21-19 loss.
McMillan threw for a season-high 457 yards and five touchdowns in a 56-0 win over Kapolei in October. A week later in a 74-18 win over Waipahu, he accounted for eight touchdowns and 387 yards of total offense.
Regarded as one of Hawaii's top prospects in the Class of 2025 by
247Sports, McMillan has landed offers from Arizona, Hawaii, Texas State and Washington State.
Each state's MaxPreps Player of the Year will be considered for inclusion in the MaxPreps All-America Team.
