Basketball Recap: Orange County Comes Up Short

After flying high against Monticello last Monday, Orange County came back down to earth. The Orange County Fighting Hornets came up short against the Millbrook Pioneers on Friday, falling 57-31. The Fighting Hornets were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Pioneers earlier this season, when they won 49-41.

Jane Moreland was her usual excellent self, going 8-for-16 on her way to 23 points and seven boards for Millbrook. Moreland has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Jaliah Jackson, who posted six points and 11 rebounds.

Orange County's loss dropped their record down to 13-10. As for Millbrook, their victory bumped their record up to 13-11.

Orange County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Millbrook, they will challenge Charlottesville at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Charlottesville's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 12 matches.
