Basketball Recap: Cardinal Ritter College Prep Comes Up Short

Cardinal Ritter College Prep's tournament run continued when they took on Champaign Central on Saturday. The Cardinal Ritter College Prep Lions took a 58-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Champaign Central Maroons. The Lions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Champaign Central to victory, but perhaps none more so than Luke Swanson, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 12 points and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Aidyn Beck, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 13 points along with eight boards and three steals.

Cardinal Ritter College Prep's loss dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Champaign Central, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season.

Cardinal Ritter College Prep will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Granite City at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. As for Champaign Central, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 55-53 loss against Alton on the 28th.
