Basketball Recap: Cardinal Ritter College Prep Lions vs. Champaign Central Maroons
Cardinal Ritter College Prep's tournament run continued when they took on Champaign Central on Saturday. The Cardinal Ritter College Prep Lions took a 58-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Champaign Central Maroons. The Lions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Champaign Central to victory, but perhaps none more so than Luke Swanson, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 12 points and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Aidyn Beck, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 13 points along with eight boards and three steals.
Cardinal Ritter College Prep's loss dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Champaign Central, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season.
Cardinal Ritter College Prep will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Granite City at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
