Basketball Game Preview: Boardman Spartans vs. Hubbard Eagles

The Boardman Spartans will head out to square off against the Hubbard Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Boardman is likely headed into the matchup with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Salem on Wednesday. Boardman fell just short of Salem by a score of 43-41. The Spartans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Hubbard fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Struthers on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 52-46 to the Wildcats, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Eagles just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Hubbard's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Boardman, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.

Everything came up roses for Boardman against Hubbard when the teams last played back in February of 2016, as the squad secured a 78-33 win. In that game, Boardman amassed a halftime lead of 52-10, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Monday.
