Baseball Recap: Cumberland Gap Takes a Loss

After flying high against Pineville last Wednesday, Cumberland Gap came back down to earth. The Panthers took a 12-9 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Clinton Dragons on Tuesday. The Panthers have struggled against the Dragons recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Hudson Harris made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 4-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Cumberland Gap's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-2 (and 6-14 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Kole Carter, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Cumberland Gap's loss dropped their record down to 11-16. As for Clinton, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-17 record this season.

As of now, neither Cumberland Gap nor Clinton have any future games scheduled.
