Volleyball Recap: Copper Hills Gets the Win

Copper Hills proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by three) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Cedar Valley Aviators 3-2. The win continues a trend for the Grizzlies in their matchups with the Aviators: they've now won four in a row.

Copper Hills was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. The final score came out to 25-13, 24-26, 28-30, 25-20, 15-11.

Lindsey Whittaker paced Copper Hills' offense, picking up 19 kills. Whittaker got some help from Paige Jensen and her 48 assists. Jensen also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Sydnee Kirby, each putting up four.

Despite the defeat, Cedar Valley had strong showings from Ashley Gagnier, who had 33 digs and three assists, and Kylee Anderson, who had 26 digs and two aces.

Copper Hills' victory bumped their record up to 10-17. As for Cedar Valley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 13 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-16 record this season.

Copper Hills is taking a road trip to take on Mountain Ridge at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cedar Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
