Baseball Game Preview: Shelbyville Central Golden Eagles vs. Coffee County Central Red Raiders

For the second straight game, Shelbyville Central will face off against Coffee County Central. The Golden Eagles will head out to face off against the Red Raiders at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Shelbyville Central is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Coffee County Central just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Red Raiders.

For Coffee County Central's part, Cole Pippenger made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off ten hits. Pippenger has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Landan Abellana, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Matt Moore also deserves some recognition as he hit his first doubles of the season.

Coffee County Central has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.2 runs over those games. As for Shelbyville Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-5.
