Soccer Preview: Summit and Basalt Square Off

Summit has played every game this season on their home pitch, but they'll have to hit the road on Friday. They will challenge the Basalt Longhorns at 4:00 p.m. Basalt has given up an average of 2.6 goals per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Summit headed into their last contest having not scored more than one goal for two straight, but Vail Mountain let them put that streak behind them. The Tigers put the hurt on the Rangers with a sharp 4-1 victory on Wednesday. The game was close at halftime, but Summit turned on the heat in the second half with three goals.

Meanwhile, Basalt managed to keep up with Roaring Fork until halftime on Wednesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Longhorns came up short against the Rams, falling 5-0. Having soared to a lofty four goals in the game before, Basalt's shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Summit's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-1-1. As for Basalt, they now have a losing record at 2-3.
