Gateway had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They came out on top against the John Carroll Catholic Rams by a score of 3-1 on Wednesday. The win was nothing new for the Panthers as they're now sitting on eight straight.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-23, 19-25, 25-19.

Leslian Rivera Alomar paced Gateway's offense, picking up 19 kills. Rivera Alomar got some help from Gabriela Alvarez and her 18 assists. Alvarez also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Karina Fabelo, each putting up five.

John Carroll Catholic's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Addie Parks, who had 15 digs and one assist, and Meghan Childs, who had five digs.

Gateway's victory bumped their record up to 19-5. As for John Carroll Catholic, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-4 record this season.

Gateway will head out on the road to challenge Gainesville at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. John Carroll Catholic does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
