Basketball Game Preview: Pleasant Spartans vs. Centerburg Trojans

The Pleasant Spartans are taking a road trip to square off against the Centerburg Trojans at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Pleasant fought the good fight in their overtime match against Shelby on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 64-54 to the Whippets.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Centerburg, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Genoa Christian Academy with a sharp 66-46 win on Thursday.

Centerburg's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-9. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.6 points over those games. As for Pleasant, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season.

Everything came up roses for Pleasant against Centerburg in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as the team secured a 61-33 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pleasant since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
