Baseball Game Preview: Orange Grove Bulldogs vs. Taft Greyhounds

The Orange Grove Bulldogs will take on the Taft Greyhounds at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Orange Grove's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Taft's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Orange Grove is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 15 runs on Friday, they were much more limited against Hondo on Saturday. They fell 6-2 to the Owls.

Meanwhile, Taft also suffered a loss in their last game, falling to Cuero by a score of 7-3.

Hunter Montemayor was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two RBI. Victor Alaniz also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Orange Grove's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-9-1. As for Taft, they dropped their record down to 12-12-1 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Orange Grove skirted past Taft 7-6 in their previous meeting back in April of 2022. Do the Bulldogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Greyhounds turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
