Baseball Game Preview: Foundation Academy Lions vs. Montverde Academy Eagles

The Foundation Academy Lions will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Montverde Academy Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Foundation Academy is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against Legacy Charter. Foundation Academy was the clear victors by a 19-1 margin over Legacy Charter on Monday.

Ethan Pate made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February of 2024.

In other pitching news, Drew Calhoun looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

Back at the plate, Joshua Ojeda was a standout: he scored a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Justin Salvati was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.

Foundation Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .707. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Legacy Charter only posted an OBP of .312.

Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Montverde Academy challenged Lake Minneola on Wednesday. Everything went Montverde Academy's way against Lake Minneola as Montverde Academy made off with a 16-8 win. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Hawks: they've now won four in a row.

Foundation Academy came out on top in a nail-biter against Montverde Academy in their previous matchup back in April of 2023, sneaking past 5-4. Will Foundation Academy repeat their success, or does Montverde Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
