Softball Recap: Montgomery Central Indians vs. Fairview Yellowjackets

Montgomery Central lost against Fairview last Thursday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Montgomery Central Indians took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Fairview Yellowjackets. Montgomery Central has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Sydney Borowik made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with a home run, two RBI, and a double. The team also got some help courtesy of Abby Khamphengphet, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Even though they lost, Montgomery Central was hitting in the alleys and finished the game with five doubles. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fairview didn't hit any.

On Fairview's side, Ashlyn Corbin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on nine hits. Corbin has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive pitching appearances.

At the plate, Allie Penning was a standout: she scored a run while going 3-for-4. Abbie Hammon was another key contributor, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4.

Montgomery Central now has a losing record at 8-9. As for Fairview, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season.
