Softball Recap: Wayne County Triumphs

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Wayne County ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They won by a run and slipped past the Seminary Bulldogs 8-7. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 13-10 back in February.

The team relied heavily on Jaslyn Gandy, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February of 2025. Gracie Swindle was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Wayne County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matchups.

Wayne County's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-14. As for Seminary, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-14.

Wayne County didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 12-0 defeat against D'Iberville on the 17th. As for Seminary, they have also already played their next game, a 9-0 victory against Quitman on the 17th.
