Basketball Recap: Avery Ward's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Rivercrest over Gilmer

Rivercrest was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They fell 55-45 to the Gilmer Buckeyes.

Rivercrest lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Avery Ward, who posted 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Diana Kelley, who went 5 for 8 on her way to 10 points and five steals.

Rivercrest's loss dropped their record down to 4-18. As for Gilmer, with the victory, they broke their 15-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-15.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rivercrest and Campbell will round out the year against one another at at 12:00 p.m. on Monday. Rivercrest is facing Campbell at the right time seeing as Campbell is stuck on a 14-game losing streak. As for Gilmer, they will face off against Henderson at 5:45 p.m. on Friday.
