Volleyball Recap: Wilkes-Barre Wolfpack vs. Hazleton Area Cougars
Wilkes-Barre needed a changed in momentum after dropping five straight games and they got it from Jordany Rodriguez. Wilkes-Barre walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Hazleton Area Cougars on Monday for which the team can thank Rodriguez, who had 23 digs, 15 kills, four aces, and one block. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in assists (three).
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-27, 25-10, 25-10.
Wilkes-Barre got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Tijan Njai out in front who had 25 assists and 11 digs. Denzel Herrera was another key player, getting nine kills, nine digs, and five blocks.
Wilkes-Barre's victory bumped their record up to 4-7-2. As for Hazleton Area, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wilkes-Barre will challenge Tunkhannock at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
