Cumberland Gap barely beat Barbourville the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Cumberland Gap Panthers put the hurt on the Barbourville Tigers with a sharp  12-3 victory on Friday. The  win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won three in a row.
 Kole Carter made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he  struck out six batters over  three innings while giving up   no  earned runs or  hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent  recently: he hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box,  scoring a  run while  getting on base  in three of his five plate appearances.
 Carter wasn't  the only one making solid contact as  four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was  Tate Murphy, who  scored four  runs while going 2-for-4. Murphy also put up a  double, which was his first of the season.
The  victory  got Cumberland Gap back to even at 2-2.
 Both  teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cumberland Gap will welcome Claiborne  at 5:00  p.m.  on Thursday. Claiborne will roll in looking for their  fourth straight  win, something Cumberland Gap surely won't give up without a fight. As for Barbourville, they will square off against Middlesboro at 1:00  p.m.  on Saturday.
