Basketball Recap: Durango Sets Scoring Season-High Against Lancaster

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Durango). They had just enough and edged the Lancaster Eagles out 60-57. Given the Trailblazers' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 66th in Nevada, while the Eagles are ranked 258th in California), the result on Saturday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Durango's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Amia McKinney led the charge by putting up 16 points along with six rebounds and four steals. That's the most steals McKinney has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Amarie Riley, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 13 boards.

Durango moved to 5-16 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak. As for Lancaster, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 18-4.

Durango has already played their next contest, a 46-41 victory against Mojave on the 27th. As for Lancaster, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 61-21 win against Littlerock on the 28th.
