Basketball Recap: NICHOLAS WILLIAMS JR's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Soulsville over Hillcrest

Soulsville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took an 80-66 bruising from the Hillcrest Vikings. The Revolution were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Vikings apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2021.

Soulsville's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was NICHOLAS WILLIAMS JR, who shot 4-for-7 from deep and dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds. WILLIAMS JR is also crushing it when it comes to blocks: he's posted at least three every time he's taken the court this season. JAKEEL TRUSS was another key player, going 9 for 20 on his way to 24 points and seven rebounds.

Jerrell Miller continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Hillcrest, dropping a double-double on 30 points and 11 rebounds. Miller also grabbed seven steals, which is notable because Hillcrest is 2-1 when he posts at least five steals, but 2-4 otherwise. Alex Morgan was another key player, going 6 of 14 on his way to 12 points along with six assists and five boards.

Soulsville's loss dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Hillcrest, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-5.

After both having extra time off, Soulsville and Compass - Midtown will dust off their jerseys to take on one another at 6:00 p.m. on January 6, 2025. Hillcrest and Rosa Fort will round out the year against one another at at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Rosa Fort's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
