Basketball Game Preview: Futures Knights vs. Forest Lake Christian Falcons

The Futures Knights will challenge the Forest Lake Christian Falcons at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Futures is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Colusa: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Futures blew Colusa out of the water with a 73-43 final score. The Knights have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 games by 20 points or more this season.

Elijah Lewis was the offensive standout of the contest as he posted 15 points in addition to seven assists and five boards. That's the most assists he has posted since back in December of 2024.

Meanwhile, Forest Lake Christian was able to grind out a solid victory over Encina on Tuesday, taking the game 60-51.

Forest Lake Christian found their leader in sophomore Brendan Hooper, who went 9 for 13 en route to 27 points along with five assists and five steals. Hooper has been hot for a while, having posted three or more steals the last 11 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Hezekiah Schneider, who put up 13 points.

Lewis wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Forest Lake Christian was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Encina only posted six assists.

Forest Lake Christian's win bumped their record up to 7-13. As for Futures, they are also on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a massive bump to their 17-9 record this season.

Everything came up roses for Futures against Forest Lake Christian in their previous meeting back in January, as the team secured an 89-57 victory. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Hooper, who went 13 of 23 on his way to 33 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Futures still be able to contain Hooper? There's only one way to find out.
